Take Aligned Action: Bridging the Gap Between Who You Are and Who You Want to Be

Every time you wait, you miss your opportunity for bridging the gap between who you are and who you want to be. So much is lost by saying to ourselves that we will do it later. That later never comes. We must spring into action at the brink of the moment. When the pressure of the challenge sinks in and we have the choice to say yes or no.

Our heads spin around with all sorts of crappy desires that involve our egos. We feel like we must do something because we’re told we’re supposed to act a certain way. Take going out to an event with people. You might be in a crowd with your friends thinking, “Oh man, I should go up to that cutie or my friends might give me the judgment look.” We have created a self-inflicting pressure to talk to a person for fear of appearing uncool. Maybe it’s not the night out. Maybe it’s at work and you put pressure on yourself because you feel like you should say something in the meeting. I’ve got news for you, you don’t unless you are aligned.

What is alignment you ask? Alignment is when your focus is on your inner body as you move through life more in the present moment than lost in your thoughts. All you have to do is place your attention on your chest where you can sense your inner body. When we are aware, we are attempting to silence the mind more. The more spiritual you are, the longer the gaps are between your thoughts. Sink below thought and when you realize you have drifted on the merry-go-round ride of your thoughts, come back to the present moment. The human mind will naturally take you on a mini thought journey. Your thoughts are what create your suffering. It is hardly ever the situation, but your thoughts about it.

Moving deeper, alignment is when being and action are combined. Here is the amazing news. You don’t have to do anything that is forced. You know it is forced when your inner being and action are not aligned. Everything that is meant for you will come out of alignment.

So the next time you feel a challenge approaching and your stomach sinks, ask yourself if you are aligned. If you are aligned, that response action is for you to take. It is an opening to grow and maybe even learn something about yourself. The experience doesn’t necessarily give you what you want. It gives you what you need.

When it’s about going up to that cutie at the event you may think it’s about finding your soulmate, but instead, it could just be a lesson. Blessings come less frequently and the lessons come constantly. Maybe your night out was really there to teach you how to give and be less cheap.

The next part of the equation is to allow more. Accept the present moment like you have chosen it and spring into that action when aligned. You will never get to what is meant for you if you don’t take action. If you remain dormant, how will you ever get the experiences to grow into the best successful version of yourself?

For example, maybe your dream is to become a famous Hollywood movie director. You have some experience, but not enough to direct a full-blown movie. Let’s say I was able to grant you the opportunity to direct a film with millions spent on the perfect cast, editors, producers, and everything you can imagine. Will you be able to do it?

The answer is no, not yet.

What you need to experience more is overcoming the level of pressure that is a little greater than what feels comfortable. This is how you grow into the person you want to become.

As you move forward that pressure is absorbed and you are slowly able to handle more and more pressure as you move forward in life. The more pressure a person can handle, the more valuable they are. The best athletes perform under the most pressure because they have taken action on a bajillion of experiences.

Everyday you get stronger and more confident the more promises you keep to yourself. If you tell yourself you are going to do something, do it because if not you will feel like shit. Your whole self-esteem and level of happiness are determined by the promises you keep to yourself.

So make a promise today. Do today what you said you were going to do yesterday. By consistently taking aligned action you will achieve the magnitude you have always dreamed of. Don’t force action and chase what is not meant for you. Instead, sink into what is.
